Test activesync without a smartphone. The fastest way to see if activesync is available and responding to requests by smartphones for access to an exchange server for email is to use the activeync URL. This URL is part of the exchange frontend install and added to Microsoft IIS server as virtual directories when Microsoft Exchange 207 and 2010 is installed.


The frontend server could be the same server as the mailbox server. It's the server that is running the connection services for Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2010. One of those Exchange connection services is Active-Sync and includes OWA.

The easiest method to determine the server to connect to for activesync on Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010 is to use the same URL for OWA but instead of putting a slash OWA, enter slash Microsoft-Activesync-Server. The URL is CaSe sensitive.
